Small scale traders at Chebkube market in Bungoma town have received cleaning equipments from Retirement Benefits Authority (RBA) to help them in cleaning services of the market place.

The event was presided over by the RBA Chief Executive Officer Nzomo Muthuku in conjuction with Bungoma county government on February 21, 2020.

Addressing the press on February 21, 2020 Muthuku said that the main aim for giving out the tools is to help them clean the market and make it a better environment for carrying out their business activities.

‘’We should keep our surrounding clean so that we don’t encourage diseases like cholera at our working places,’’ he said.

He added that small business operators should also save little amount received on their daily or monthly sales for future utilization and even cater for their kids in school.

‘’Even if you own a small business you can still save the small amount that you can manage to raise,’’ he said.

Muthuku says that Retirement benefit authority is a government body that caters for all workers whether casual or formal to save, calling on business operators to join schemes registered with RBA and save.

‘’Some business persons retire without any savings so this is the reason  as to why we have come up with this excellent idea to enlighten our people on the importance of saving,’’ he said.

He warned against thieves who might arise and claim to be registered saving schemes that they will be arrested and arraigned in court.

‘’We only have thirty five saving schemes that have been registered with retirement benefits authority and in case of any suspicion they should confirm with our offices,’’ he said.
