A Member of Parliament from Bungoma has told his constituents to be careful about truck drivers plying the Northern Corridor road.

Kanduyi Mp Wafula Wamunyinyi claims that truck drivers are agents of Coronavirus.

He says that reports indicate that majority truck drivers have tested positive of COVID-19 and they are therefore agents of the novel global pandemic.

Speaking while launching an automatic sanitizing booth at Kanduyi on May 15, 2020, Wamunyinyi called on Bungoma residents to be careful about the long distance and avoid them like plaque.

“Yes they are good people, they help us in doing business like visiting our hotels, lodges and buying goods from small scale business people,” he said

The legislator continued, “Corona is real, let’s wash our hands, put on face masks, observe social distance and avoid crowded areas, this is government directive that will save us from contracting it,”.

Wamunyinyi asked area residents to use the automatic sanitizing booth in cleaning themselves and observe all the directives.

The lawmaker also opened another automatic sanitizing booth at Bungoma main bus stop to help the spread of COVID-19 among the vendors, touts and drivers who are the main users.

He also managed to distribute relief food to vulnerable people affected with floods and Coronavirus. He toured Mjini estate, Namasanda, Samoya and Kibabii areas where majority residents have been affected by raging floods
