Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetang’ula has downplayed the difference between him and Bungoma governor Wycliffe Wangamati.

Speaking on Sulwe fm a local vernacular radio station owned by Royal Media Services on Thursday May 28, the Bungoma senator refuted to claims that they have fallen out with Wangamati.
“Bungoma county is being ruled by Ford Kenya which is my party, Wangamati is from my party, my duty is unite all people for the common goal, there is no bad or good leader,” said Wetang’ula.
He rubbished to claims of may be supporting the current senate speaker Kenneth Lusaka to take over from Wangamati in 2022 because of their irreconcilable difference.

He added, “Wangamati is a governor on my party, I campaigned for him, I even nominated his father Patrick Wangamati in the last Parliament and we worked with him for five years, we have no problem with each other, if he has one with me I don’t know, in my life I don’t harbour grudges or carry hatred,”.
He pointed out that Bungoma county faces huge challenges which needs to be corrected.
Wetang’ula stated that Bungoma county has got the assembly which comprises of many party but Ford Kenya has the largest number of MCAs.
“The assembly does it’s independent oversight, I don’t micromanage or seek favours from anybody, I don’t sit in the Assembly’s caucuses, I don’t do things in the Assembly, I sit in Nairobi to ensure I push enough money to the county,” he said.
The party leader said that he has pushed the treasury and Bungoma is likely to get more Sh1 billion during the next budget circle.
He said that Ford Kenya has plans to grow the party and attract more candidates in 2022.

“We are all over the country, we are in Bungoma, Busia, Vihiga, Trans Nzoia, Tana River, Taita Taveta, Wajir, Kakamega, Kuria, Nyakach, Kisumu, we have elected leaders all-over,” he said.
Wetang’ula  observed that Ford Kenya will only grow by expansion but not reduction and they are spread all-over.
“Let’s not dilute FK to look like a Bungoma county party only, off course Bungoma is our bedrock and we would wish to have as many elected leaders because it is an area of major focus,” he said.
