“It’s only in Bungoma where a  government issues notice to close ECD classes while it’s her responsibility to built,” the legislator pointed out.

Kimilili Mp Didmus Barasa has condemned demolition of an Early Childhood Development class at Namkhele ACK primary school.

The legislator stated that it was gross for the devolved unit government to demolish the class despite the fact that it is its responsibility to develop ECD classes all over the county.
Taking to his social media, Barasa said that it was wrong for the county government whose  responsibility is to build as many ECD classes while revamping others to rush and close others
“It’s only in Bungoma where a  government issues notice to close ECD classes while it’s her responsibility to built,” the legislator pointed out.

The law maker called on the county government to ensure it funds the construction of many classrooms as possible instead of demolishing the available once so as to give learners room to study without any disturbance
In a letter issued to the head teacher Namkhele primary school on September 15, 2019 by the Kimilili Sub County Public Health Officer Monicah Birech it states that the ECD class is dangerous to the learners.
“Following the routine sanitary inspection carried out in your learning institution, it was noted with concern that the staffroom does not meet the required health standards due to congestion of ECD classrooms,” read the notice.

It added, “The floor is earthen and not regularly smeared, walls are not well filled up and and the rafters are naked, leaking roof with no ceiling board, inadequate sitting chairs and tables/lockers for teachers and the structure is generally not stable  and risks collapsing,”.
The public health officer had given the school head teacher one week to fix the nuisenses or risks closure if the issue goes unabated.
