Plans are on top gear to unite the Luhya community to ensure they drop all their votes into the deputy president William Ruto’s 2022 presidential ambition because he is the most popular candidate now.

Tanga Tanga allied Western region leaders (a political outfit led by Ruto) called on other leaders who are still confused to join the bandwagon and support Ruto.

Mumias East Mp Benjamin Washiali said that the divisions among Luhya leaders will cost them the presidency.
“If the divisions continues, it will hurt the Luhya unity hence we will continue being led by other communities,” he said.
Washiali continued, “Let’s support the deputy President William Ruto, we either need a block votes as Luhyas so that we can get a fraction of the government that will be led by Ruto or else we will remain in opposition forever,”.

The former national assembly majority Chief Whip called on the Luhyas to support Ruto as a united comminity.
Malava Mp Malulu Injendi called on ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi and his Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Wetang’ula to agree on who will lead us so that they can court friends to form the next government.
“The Luhya community alone cannot win the presidency, let us initiate talks with other communities including the deputy president William Ruto,” said Injendi.
Kimilili Mp Didmus Barasa said that Ruto is the only leader who has shown interest in supporting the Luhya community because Raila Odinga can’t lead them.

“Let us find refuge in Ruto, Raila has got no Luhyas interests at heart, if we continue silly dallying and remain confused we will be left out by this fast moving train,” said Barasa.
Webuye West Mp Dan Wanyama pointed out that Ruto is the only friend who has shown interest in uniting the Luhya community.
“I am appealing to our older brothers Musalia Mudavadi, Wycliffe Oparanya and Moses Wetang’ula to join us in supporting Ruto presidency because without any unity we are doomed,” said Wanyama.
Bumula Mp Mwambu Mabongah noted that Raila Odinga has caused more harm to Luhyas than good.
“It is time we had an alternative in leadership and the only person who has shown interest in supporting Luhyas is the deputy president William Ruto, let us stand up and support him,” said the independent Mp.

Chwele/Kabuchai MCA Barasa Mukhongo accused Bungoma governor Wycliffe Wangamati for involving himself too much in National politics and forgeting to initiate development projects in his backyard.
“Wangamati has Sh11 billion every year for development but the he is not initiating development in his county but busy politicking,” said Mukhongo.
Bokoli ward MCA Jack Kawa stated that as MCAs they will point out at corruption wrongs in the county to ensure development projects are initiated.
They were speaking at Webuye West Mp Dan Wanyama’s home in Chebosi village during a meeting that brought together Tanga Tanga Mps and MCAs from Bungoma and Kakamega counties on July 11, 2020.
