A family from Chekulo village, Kabuchai Sub-county, Bungoma County is pleading for help from well-wishers to help them raise Sh3 million to treat their ailing son.
Wilson Simiyu (17) was unable to carry on with his Secondary education due to heart failure.
The family leaves in penury and is pleading for financial help from well-wishers to unable him undergo heart surgery at the Mater hospital in Nairobi.
The boy is currently hospitalized at Bungoma West Hospital in Kanduyi market.
Speaking at Webuye Sub County Hospital his mother Gladys Wenani said that his son developed difficulties immediately after completing his class eight examinations.
‘’Since my son completed KCPE exams in 2019 I have visited every hospital seeking for medication, his father died 10 years ago subjecting me to further misery, my daughter is also admitted at Webuye Sub County Hospital with stomach inflammation,’’ she said.
She added that Merlin Nasambu (14), a pupil at Chekulo primary school developed body swelling and asked Bungoma leaders and well-wishers to chip in and help her kids’ access medication.
‘’The nurse in charge at Bungoma West Hospital informed me that Wilson needs to be referred to Mater hospital for further examination of the heart at the estimated cost of Sh3M, I have sold everything at home seeking for medication for my children,’’ she said.
She urged the Ministry of Education to intervene and help her children access medication, adding that she has overstayed at Webuye hospital but the situation worsened which forced be transferred to Bungoma West Hospital.
According to the Doctors’ report, Jane Nyongesa, nurse in charge said that the family needs immediate sponsorship.
The nurse added that according to the medical examination done the children need further treatment.
