A former lawyer with the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority Cyril Wayong’o has been grilled by the Assembly Committee on appointment as the Bungoma County Attorney.
If confirmed Wayong’o will serve for a period of six years.
Committee on appointment chaired by speaker of the Bungoma county assembly Emmanuel Situma vetted the Mr.Wayong’o in an event held on Friday September 18 at Kenya Industrial Estates hall.
Wayong’o was born in 1975 and raised in Sirare village, West Nalondo in Kabuchai constituency, Bungoma county.
He said that if appointed he will make a difference in our people and ensure that there is compliance in law as the county government is concerned.
“My work will be to ensure that the executive abidebythe set down law and regulations to minimize legal battles.He was put to task to explain why his birth documents and ID years differ.
Mbakalo MCA Bethwel Mwambu tasked Wayong’o to explain why his names with those in other documents.
“There are two different names others showing Cyril Simiyu Wayong’o and Cyril Wayong’o, who are we grilling?, he posed.
The nominee had to convince the committee members that during some meetings the conveners use two names while others use three but still he is the same person they were grilling.
He confirmed that he holds the current practising certificate from the Law Society of Kenya to work for the high court of Kenya.
Bungoma governor Wycliffe Wangamati had nominated Foselina Chebet who got 76 points, Isaiah Mandala (74), Edel Fuchaka with 69 while Wayong’o got 86 percent.
He holds a masters in business administration from Moi University and has 18 years work experience
