“Many youths have engaged in drug abuse something that have made some develop temporary madness to kill others,” warned the area Chief.
A sombre mood has engulfed Chebaywa village, Matioli location, Malava constituency in Kakamega county after a grandson Peter James (29) attacked his grandmother at her residence and stabbed her with a kitchen knife in the neck.
An eye witness said that the man has been staying well with his grandmother without having disagreements.
“I knew Peter as a good and polite man, I don’t know what really forced him to do this bizarre act,” a neighbor said, adding that the culprit must be arrested, arraigned and charged for having killed his grandmother.
The incident was confirmed by the area chief of Chebaywa village, Daniel Mulambula, who condemned the act assuring rowdy area residents that the culprit will be arrested and arraigned in court.
“This is very wrong, if you know you have a problem with your family or friends do not take action. Come and report to my office at the Kakamega police station. This incident will serve as an example to others,” he said.
He called on area assistant chiefs to work closely with the police and area residents to ensure that there is reduction in drug abuse.
“Many youths have engaged in drug abuse something that have made some develop temporary madness to kill others,” he warned.
However, the suspect was arrested by Kabras police officers to pave way for more investigation related to the case to be carried out. The body of the deceased was taken to Kakamega Teaching and Referral hospital for preservation.
